Est nunc Brisaei quem venosus liber Axi.
Brisaeum appellatum esse scribit, vel a mellis usu, quod ipse primus mel invenisse dicatur: vel ab uva, quod eam expresserit, quum brisare sit exprimere, vel a nympha, quae eum nutrivisse dicitur. Brisaeus etiam Poetarum epitheton est, quod ii in Liberi patris tutela esse credantur. Vide Calaubon. ad locum Persii allatum. Addo, quod Hesychio Βρησσαῖος, a Chald. brez vel briz, h. e. fluxus mellis, e favo egredientis. Cornutus in Persium Sat.1. Est Brisaeus Liber Pater cognominatus a mellis usu, eo quod ipse primus dicitur invenisse mel, et ex favis expressisse. Quo facir, quod Brisas vocabant Nymphas, quae Aristaeum docuerunt mellis conficiendi rationem. Heraclides in Ceorum Rep.
